Melanie graduated from Liverpool. She worked as a lead NHS clinician in outpatients before establishing Woolton Physiotherapy in 1991. She has continued to expand her expertise gaining membership of The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine, Acupuncture Association (AACP),British Occupational Hygiene society and has a Diploma in injection therapy. She has completed the accredited MACP modules and taught at the University of Liverpool, spinal and lower limb assessment.
Melanie uses her specialist skills across a wide range of conditions and has an exciting and varied client base. Melanie manages the provision of Physiotherapy Services for 3 clinic sites, local industry, councils, sporting events and corporate businesses across the North West. She continues to provide discreet physiotherapy services for theatre and TV productions in the North West. Her main concern is to maintain her 3 Physiotherapy sites as clinics of excellence where all patients receive the highest standard of treatment with professionalism, care and respect. Her staff are supported with CPD and post graduation courses to ensure the team are skilled in all new developments and evidence based practice.
Stelian graduated from Al. I. Cuza, Romania, in 2012 with a BSc in Physiotherapy and Special Motility and has a MSc in Physiotherapy in Sport’s Traumatology. He has worked as a volunteer in a private hospital in Romania during Master courses. Stelian decided to come to UK to improve his skills, gain experience and to make a positive difference. He specialises in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
In his spare time, Stelian enjoys spending time with his family. He particularly enjoys taking his daughter to dance and watching her shows.
Milka Qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998 in Bulgaria and worked in a hospital as a rotational physiotherapist in intensive care, respiratory care, paediatrics, neurology, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatients.
In 2004 she moved to the UK and continued working in Neurology. Milka did “Pain Management” and “Neurology in Physiotherapy” as a part of a Masters course at Sheffield Hallam University in 2012. Qualified as a Disability Assessor in 2016 and has been working for Woolton Physiotherapy clinic since 2018. Recently graduated from the University of Bradford and gained Postgraduate Certificate in Women’s Health to treat women experiencing menopausal symptoms, incontinence, pelvic pain, prenatal and postpartum musculoskeletal pain, as well as education prevention, and promoting wellness and exercise.
Milka’s passion is women’s health with a special focus on menopausal symptoms but also offering treatment and advice in ante/post-natal rehabilitation. Post-graduate training in Acupuncture with certificate in Women’s Health, treating period pain ,incontinence , migraines , hot flushes , night sweats, endometriosis , pelvic girdle pain , low back
pain in pregnancy, polycystic ovary syndrome and infertility.
she is currently completing the Mummy MOT course and excited to be able to offer this renowned service to new mums at our clinics. In her free time Milka enjoys spending time with family , travelling and playing volleyball.
Joao attended the Red Cross Private University in Lisbon. He worked for Casa Pia Atletico Futebol Clube football teams in Lisbon and had internships in S.L. Benfica Seixal Campus, working with the club’s B squad, as well as working in a wide array of hospitals and private clinics, within different settings. He was working as a Senior Physiotherapist for Pall Mall Physio in the city centre of Liverpool prior to joining Woolton Physiotherapy.
Joao’s physio specialty is MSK with a particular interest in sports and lower limb injuries. He also has the ability to structure bespoke rehabilitation gym programs to support fitness and optimum recovery. During his free time , he enjoys nagging the clerical staff at the clinic, walking/running, going to the gym and travelling. Oh, and food.
After graduating from Nottingham with a first-class BSc Hons Physiotherapy Degree in 2016, Nathan gained clinical experience working in NHS multidisciplinary environments and private sports injury clinics before moving to New Zealand to continue his professional development in private practices around Auckland. He then trained as a Pilates instructor, acquired a dry needling qualification, and became a certified STEEL cancer therapist before moving back to the UK to join the Woolton Physiotherapy team. With over 6 years of experience in the MSK sector, he has a keen interest in lower back rehabilitation for acute and chronic pain cases, and specialises in a holistic, exercise- based approach to healthcare.
He enjoys spending his spare time with family now that he is home, likes to keep fit in the gym, and loves to visit new places on his motorbike.
Jo graduated from Salford University. She is a senior paediatric physiotherapist at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital working in orthopaedic trauma, burns and plastics. She has worked part-time at Woolton Physiotherapy for the past twenty years. She is renowned for her commitment to her patients and has regular patients who she has assisted with managing their conditions, treating them with her wide range of skills.
She has taken her skills voluntarily to Nepal and is a regular lecturer in her area of expertise. She has a varied client base and a massive part of our story.
Athanasios hales from a small village in Greece. He graduated from Hanze University in 2017 with a First Class BSc in Physiotherapy. Saki, as he is know in the clinic and by his clients, has worked all over Europe along with time spent at Benfica Academy. Saki has a passion for lower limb sports injuries specialising in running injuries and kinesiology taping. He has recently completed his Acupuncture qualification and Level 3 NKT (Neuro Kinetic Therapy).
In his spare time, Saki enjoys socialising, spending time with friends and supporting Liverpool Football Club. Whenever he can get away, he loves returning home to see his family.
Mark Qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2020, before this Mark did a degree in Sports therapy and worked within football. In 2012 he decided to go and work in Australia and worked within private companies as a PT and Therapist. On completions of his degree Mark took a job in arrow park hospital. Mark joined our team in April this year and works at our Laird site.
During his free time mark enjoys going the gym and spending time with his family.
Rachel joined our team, working part-time in 2014. She was promoted in 2015 to Admin/Finance Manager and became full time. In 2018, Rachel became Practice Manager. Rachel ensures the clinics are run smoothly on a day to day basis. Previously Rachel worked for University of Liverpool for 17 years at the Cancer Research Centre, working her way up the ladder from receptionist to Data Manager. She has completed numerous courses including BTEC administration, NVQs in customer service, business administration and team leading. Rachel is totally committed to the clinic and able to multi task on a daily basis! She welcomes all our patients with her cheery smile and cares for all our staff as if they were her own.
In her spare time, Rachel likes to spend time with her family and friends and enjoys long walks with Dexter (her fur-baby).
Annie joined our team in 2019 as a Business Administrative Apprentice, Annie passed this course with distinction. The management at the clinic were extremely impressed with Annie’s commitment and enthusiasm. In 2020, we were pleased when Annie accepted the full-time position as Administrator.
In her spare time, Annie enjoys socialising, walking Bobby and Bertie (her babies, cavapoos), meditating and reading. Annie takes a particular interest in spirituality.
For your own comfort and to allow your therapist easy access to the treated area; we recommend loose, comfortable clothes. If you are female and you have a complaint of the thoracic spine or shoulder area, we advise you to wear a strappy top or sports bra. For the back and hip areas, sports shorts are advised. Although we provide towels, you may wish to bring your own small towel with you. We are diligent with hygiene and infection control.
You do not need a GP referral, however, we work closely with local GPs and Consultants as well as being the preferred provider for many national insurance, legal and health companies.
